New In Hand Show in October

In response to our members survey we are going to resurrect our Youngstock show in the form of an In Hand show which will also have classes for animals over 4 years.

The show will be on Sat 22 October 2016 at Netherton Equestrian Centre, Netherton Farm, Aberargie, Perthshire, PH2 9NE  (This is approx. 1 mile off the M 90 at Bridge of Earn)

NPS Scotland Performance Scheme is now sponsored by Harbro!

We are delighted to announce that Harbro  are the sponsors of the NPS Scotland Performance Scheme for 2016.  Harbro specialise in all livestock  husbandry products with 14 country stores stocking a range of equestrian products throughout Scotland.  The Performance Scheme is a competition to recognise the versatility of our native breeds and part breds that is open to everyone.

We supply you with a log book to record your results and achievements over the year.  Points are awarded for all disciplines from showing, driving, long distance riding, PC events and competitions, almost everything but excluding In Hand showing.

At the end of the year you return your log book then we have some wonderful prizes of rugs, waistcoats, vouchers etc. provided by Harbo for the worthy winners.

There is an entry fee of £10 for members, £15 for non members which can be done via Entrymaster or an entry form from the web site.

NPS Supreme Dressage Championships 2016/17

As many of you will be aware, the NPS run a Supreme Dressage Championship Final at Addington Manor in April of each year.

In the past, NPS Scotland has run a qualifier at our Summer Show.  However, with our move to Highfield at Howe in 2016, we don’t have the room to hold this qualifier and Netherton Equestrian, which is situated near to Bridge of Earn in Perthshire, have offered to host qualifying classes in July, September and February.  This will give competitors three separate chances to qualify.  The July date will be Sunday, 3rd and please watch our website and social media page for confirmation of the September and February dates.

BD tests Prelim 18 and Novice 30 will be used for all qualifiers and each test will consist of the following six sections, all of which will have their own Final:

  • Registered M&M breeds not exceeding 138cms
  • Registered M&M breeds exceeding 138cms
  • Registered British Riding Ponies
  • Part Bred Horses/Ponies registered with their appropriate Native Breed Part Bred Stud Book – including PBA ponies overstamped in the British Riding Pony Stud Book and ponies registered with the British Sports Pony Stud Book.
  • Highest placed Mini rider aged under 12 years on 1st January 2016
  • Highest placed Junior rider under 18 years on 1st January 2016

The two highest placed ponies in each section at each qualifying show will qualify for the 2017 Final and also be eligible to be chosen to represent their Breed, NPS Area or other team in the Team Challenge which will be incorporated into the 2017 Championship Final.  To compete in the Final, you must be a fully paid up Dressage, Qualifying or Life member of the NPS in 2017.

Black Isle Show Qualifiers moved.

Since the light horse classes have been cancelled at Black Isle show the NPS Scotland qualifiers have now been awarded to the BHS Summer Show which will be held on 16th July 2016 at Leanoch Farm, Culloden, Inverness-shire.

Anthony Perkins training day cancelled.

It is with regret that we have had to cancel the Anthony Perkins training day at Coxhill Livery yard, near Falkirk on Sun 3rd April 2016.  All applicants will get a refund.

 

This training day had been awarded the TSR Talent Spotting for rider to join the TRS Training Pathway that leads to riders riding in the TSR/HOYS Showing Master Class.  We are delighted that TSR have kindly agreed that this qualification can be transferred to the Richard Telford Training day on Saturday 26th March at Seaforth Riding Centre, Maryburgh, Dingwall.

New Look Website

In time for the spring show event and starting the new season we are happy to bring to you, our new look website.

We hope you will find it more informative and easier to use than our previous site. On our new platform we hope to bring you up to the minute news and updates about upcoming events, both official qualifiers and all other NPS run events.
