Champions at Blair Finals!

Congratulations to all of our worthy champions who provided such an exciting finale to an excellent season of competition up and down the country. The number of entries was up again on last year and the standard of entries exceeded expectations. A fun day was had by all and even the weather was kind to us (mostly!).

Scottish Young Judges Score!

Congratulations to Millie Ferguson from Inverness, and Jodie Caig from Dumfries who were 1st and 2nd respectively in the 14-18 year old section of the NPS Jenny Seymour “Young Judges” competition at the NPS Summer Championships at Malvern. Millie then went on to win the Overall M & M Young Judges competition. This is a great achievement for 14 year old Millie who was competing against young judges up to the age of 25.

Congratulations to both girls, what a great achievement and thank you for representing NPS Scotland. We look forward to fielding another successful young judges team in 2017.

NPS Supreme Dressage Championships 2016/17

As many of you will be aware, the NPS run a Supreme Dressage Championship Final at Addington Manor in April of each year.

In the past, NPS Scotland has run a qualifier at our Summer Show.  However, with our move to Highfield at Howe in 2016, we don’t have the room to hold this qualifier and Netherton Equestrian, which is situated near to Bridge of Earn in Perthshire, have offered to host qualifying classes in July, September and February.  This will give competitors three separate chances to qualify.  The July date will be Sunday, 3rd and please watch our website and social media page for confirmation of the September and February dates.

BD tests Prelim 18 and Novice 30 will be used for all qualifiers and each test will consist of the following six sections, all of which will have their own Final:

  • Registered M&M breeds not exceeding 138cms
  • Registered M&M breeds exceeding 138cms
  • Registered British Riding Ponies
  • Part Bred Horses/Ponies registered with their appropriate Native Breed Part Bred Stud Book – including PBA ponies overstamped in the British Riding Pony Stud Book and ponies registered with the British Sports Pony Stud Book.
  • Highest placed Mini rider aged under 12 years on 1st January 2016
  • Highest placed Junior rider under 18 years on 1st January 2016

The two highest placed ponies in each section at each qualifying show will qualify for the 2017 Final and also be eligible to be chosen to represent their Breed, NPS Area or other team in the Team Challenge which will be incorporated into the 2017 Championship Final.  To compete in the Final, you must be a fully paid up Dressage, Qualifying or Life member of the NPS in 2017.

So, if you are keen to enter – and hopefully you will be – please can you contact Netherton Equestrian direct for more information and a copy of their schedule.  Their details are as follows:

Netherton Equestrian (Joanna Wilkie)
Netherton Farm
Perthshire PH2 9NE

Tel: 07801 418681 or 07855 468809

Finally, if any of you know of a competition centre or riding club who hold regular dressage competitions and you think would like hold a qualifier, the link to the NPS dressage page is and they will get full details on rules, regulations and affiliation there.

Please support these qualifiers – wouldn’t it be great if we could have a NPS Scotland team at the Finals in April 2017!
