Overall Performance Reserve Champion

Tahuna Caramel, owned by Mrs Fiona Duncan and ridden by Maisy Duncan.

Caramel was born in 1999 at the Tahuna Stud, Ellon, Aberdeenshire. She is chestnut and is 119.5cm and is now almost 18 years old. Her Sire is Friars Sinsyr and her Dam is Waitwith Betsy.

Caramel came to us in October 2013 as an early birthday present for Maisy’s 4th Birthday. Prior to owning Caramel she had spent a few years in Deeside Pony Club, then was in the Angus Pony Club as a pony club pony until we got her. Caramel is now in the Kincardineshire Pony Club with Maisy, who has just turned 7.

The two instantly clicked and competed Lead Rein for 2 years in Showing, Dressage, Showjumping, Working Hunter, Arena Events and Pony Club, winning many rosettes and Championships.

Some achievements:

  • 4th NPS Scotland Lead Rein Final at Blair Castle 2014.
  • Supreme Champion at Brechin Castle Autumn Show 2015.
  • Supreme Champion ‘Up & Coming Stars’ at Inchcoonans 2015.
  • Best Welsh Section A & 5th Overall at NPS Performance Awards 2015.

By the end of 2015 Maisy was off on her own.

In 2016 they carried on their success in all their disciplines.

Tahuna Caramel

They were Overall Working Hunter Champions of both unaffiliated and affiliated classes at a Brechin Castle Spring Show. At the NPS Scotland Finals at Blair Castle they won 2nd in the M&M Novice (A&B) Ridden Final and were 3rd in the M&M First Ridden Final. They came 4th in the TSR First Ridden Finals at the Ingliston Grand Slam and won 1st in the M&M First Ridden Final at the Caledonian Championships.

In many of their competitions they have to compete alongside adults & much bigger horses than Caramel. The two have progressed into Prelim Dressage, 50/60cm Showjumping and successfully competed in Showcross & Powercross.

Caramel is home produced and is part of our family. Maisy does all she can to help look after her pony. The pair are best friends and are inseparable. They trust and look after each other.
