Equine Flu Information

All shows are advised to follow the latest British Equestrian Federation (BEF) advice which as of 11th February states that following veterinary consultation the advice remains that it is not necessary to cancel other (non-racing) equine events at this time, subject to local disease status and local veterinary advice. It is essential that any horses showing signs of possible equine influenza, or horses that might have been in contact with possibly infected horses, do not travel to competitions or other events where there will be groups of horses. If your horse has been in contact with an infected horse we suggest that you should take immediate veterinary advice. The NPS advise shows to carry out spot checks on Influenza Vaccination records and to advise their competitors to have their animal’s passport with them and ensure that their vaccinations are up to date.
